Stuey Blanco Interview
Who are some of your biggest influences?
“My biggest influences in music vary between a few artists. Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, and Lil Wayne. These are just my early influences and they will always remain my favorite artists but as I grew older throughout high school that later drifted into Stevie Wonder, Jon Bellion, and Han Zimmer who writes for Pixar.”
What is it like growing up in the Washington music scene?
“Being in the music scene here at a young age was a very cool experience. Luckily for me everyone I was around were adults so I got to listen to them make music from a more mature perspective. I learned very early on the value of the greats that came before you.”
What are your interests outside of music?
“Outside of music I'm really into filming, customizing clothes and bike rides.”
How would you describe your music to someone who has never listened to you?
“I would describe my music as a blend between Neo Soul, RnB, and hip-hop. But I just like to call it "stuey music."
What does music mean to you?
“To me, music is the only thing that can get all different types of people in the same room. We all have felt sad, angry, or upset at one time or another. It makes us question if we are really so different after all. To me music is everything.”
What can fans expect from you within the next 3 months?
“Fans can expect to see me in my truest form. I feel it's time that the audience sees what an entire body of work sounds and looks like from SB.”
Where do you find inspiration?
“Definitely "Go!" and "MAD." I feel like those are my most authentic and true pieces of work and the most accurate direction of where I want to take my music.”
Where do you find inspiration?
“My inspiration comes from real-life events or even sometimes I just hear a loop repeated and that congers up the melody as well.”
Do you prefer to record during the day or night and why?
“Either way, I get it in when I can, but most of the time I prefer nighttime.”
If you could get a feature from anyone, who would it be and why?
“My dream feature would be Jon Bellion and Tyler the creator.”
Last question, do you have any advice for people wanting to step into the music industry?
“If you love music and this is what you want to do, let it show in everything you do. This is a full-time job and you have to treat it like it. Don't be afraid of your own unique voice because that is what is going to separate you. Find your authentic self and express it to the fullest.”
