JAYKO INTERVIEW

Who are some of your biggest influences?

“Two of my biggest influences are Nick Mira and Royce David. Seeing how both these people built with an individual artist and created something special is crazy to see. Definitely hope to do it like them someday. Both hella cool people when I met them - shoutout to them fr.”

What is it like growing up in the Washington music scene?

“I really only got into the music scene a little over 2 years ago, but growing up here I always tried to show love to the artists around the city. Building with local artists and working closely with ones I was fans of before I even started music is cool to look back on. Other than a couple of times it's been mainly love in the city which is super fire to see especially since I got into the scene pretty young.”

What are your interests outside of music?

“My day really just consists of going to high school, working out, going to the studio, and chilling with my friends when I can. Outside of music, I'm really just focused on getting money without working a normal job and focusing on my relationships whether that be inside or outside of music. Working out as a producer is key most def.”

Which Software do you use to make beats?

FL studio gang”

What does music mean to you?

“Music's been a huge part of my life forever. I've always been interested in discovering new music, connecting with people, etc. Music's brought me countless memories, connections, and lifelong friends that I'm gonna keep growing with. I think everybody loves music it's just up to u whether u gonna express it or not.”

What can supporters expect from you within the next 3 months?

“New songs with a lot of artists from the city and just growing my brand. Got this new brand yall may or may not know of that's been going crazy but shhh nobody knows I'm running it lol”

Which song produced by you, would you recommend to someone who has never listened to you and why?

“Go listen to that Xavier Weeks & Charlieonnafriday "Brand New"! The way the beat switches mid-song is still crazy to me. Xavier and Charlie both snapped too”

Where do you find inspiration?

“I find inspiration by watching other producers and seeing my friends win. I find it while I'm sitting in class too because that sh*t is so boring. At the gym too, like I said working out is key. YouTube is always a go-to as well for motivation.”

Do you prefer to make beats during the day or night and why?

“It depends on where I'm at tbh. If I'm at the crib I prefer daytime because I find myself more locked in but if I'm in the studio it's really whenever.”

If you could have anyone hop on one of your beats, who would it be and why?

“I'd wanna lock in with NAV or Uzi. I think cooking up with either of those would be hella fun. Shit honestly the main person would be Juice WRLD. Rest in peace to him man.”

Last question, do you have any advice for people wanting to step into the music industry?

“My advice would be if you're a producer, you never need any support from anyone outside of the industry. Keep that shit lowkey and don't let anybody know what ur doing fr. Make sure you can be good at connecting with people and don't be weird when u step into a room. And if sh*t don't work out at first, keep pushing or find another foot in the door!”
